HANNA'S RIGHT TO TRY Editor & Director

Dr. Sue Sisley and her mother Dr. Hanna Sisley, fought years of corruption and monopolies within the FDA and the DOJ/DEA to bring cannabis and other plant/psychedelic medicines to veterans. They were striving to offer robust quality of life to those in finalstage/Hospice and to advocate that all patients with life-threatening illness in the US should have the “right to try”  investigational drugs,  not yet approved by FDA.

In 2020, after fighting alongside Sue for 10 years to study real-world drugs in Schedule 1, Hanna spends her final years researching the risks and benefits of cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, and LSD on her dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Hanna passes away only three months before the DEA awards her daughter, Dr. Sue Sisley, the only other Schedule 1 Manufacturing license to cultivate cannabis in the US. This award is immediately followed by the first approval to grow whole natural psilocybin mushrooms for study and distribution to other labs and scientists in the US, a victory for Hanna and millions advocating for their “right to try.”

Hannah’s positive experiences with LSD at the end of her life inspire Sue and SRI to apply for permission to manufacture LSD for upcoming research, potentially making it available under the federal "right to try" law.

"My goal is to take others

on a heartfelt journey

through my last year with my mother, and show how cannabis and alternative care gave her

final months of life an extraordinary quality.
